Project Overview

The primary goal of this project is to enhance the healthcare system by establishing “Nidan Kendras” for genetic screening and the early diagnosis of metabolic disorders. This initiative is part of the DBT-UMMID (Unique Methods for Management and Treatment of Inherited Disorders) program, which focuses on the prevention and management of genetic disorders through screening and early intervention.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Screening pregnant mothers for common genetic disorders.
  • Screening newborns for treatable inborn metabolic errors.
  • Supporting the establishment of Nidan Kendras.

Eligibility Criteria

1. Project Scientist I

  • Educational Qualification: Master’s degree in Life Sciences or related fields.

  4. Deadline: The last date for submission of applications is 10th February 2025. Any application submitted after this date will not be considered.

  • Applications without complete documentation will not be entertained.

Key Terms & Conditions

  • Temporary Appointment: All posts are temporary, and the appointment will be valid for 12 months or until the completion of the project, whichever comes first.
  • Project Location: The selected candidates may be required to work at SKIMS or collaborate with other institutions like GMC Baramulla/Kupwara.
  • Termination: The appointment can be terminated with a one-month notice from either side without assigning any reason.
  • No Future Claims: Since the posts are temporary, selected candidates cannot claim for permanent employment at SKIMS after the project ends.
